Privacy Policy

DriveSarathi ("DriveSarathi", "we", "us") is a software service that helps driving schools manage students, class schedules, fees and RTO / licence records. This policy explains what information we handle and how.

Each driving school that uses DriveSarathi is the owner (controller)of its own students' information and decides how it is used. DriveSarathi acts as a processor— we store and process that information on the school's behalf to run the service. If you are a student, please also contact your driving school about their own handling of your data.

We collect only what is needed to run the service:

• School & account details — school name, owner/staff/driver name, email, mobile number, address and login credentials.
• Student details(entered by the school) — name, mobile number, email, date of birth, address, roll number, course, fees and payments, class attendance, progress, and RTO / learner's & driving licence (LL / DL) information.
• Sensitive details— where the school chooses to record it, a student's Aadhaar number. This is optional and entered only by the driving school, and is stored securely using encryption. The school is responsible for obtaining all required consent under applicable law.
• Technical data — a secure session cookie to keep you logged in, and basic logs (e.g. actions performed, errors) used to operate and secure the service.

• To provide the service — scheduling, fee tracking, attendance, RTO/licence and student logins.
• To send service messages — login details, reminders and notifications (see WhatsApp below).
• To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• To keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
• To meet legal or regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

DriveSarathi can send messages over WhatsApp— for example a student's login details, class reminders or a login one-time password (OTP). These messages are delivered through WhatsApp, a third-party service operated by Meta, and are subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.

Messages are only sent to numbers a school has added. Standard WhatsApp/carrier terms apply. To stop receiving messages, ask your driving school to remove or update your number.

We use trusted third-party infrastructure and service providers to securely operate the Service, and we apply industry-standard security practices, including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS) for data sent between you and the Service.
• Encryption at rest where applicable.
• Secure authentication, with passwords stored only as hashes.
• Access controls, including row-level security so each school can only access its own data.

No online service can guarantee 100% security. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot promise absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.

We share information only in these limited cases:

• Sub-processors who help us run the service — trusted third-party infrastructure, hosting and messaging providers (including WhatsApp/Meta for messaging) — strictly to provide the service.
• Within your school — an owner, staff and assigned driver see the student data relevant to their role.
• Legal reasons — where required by law, regulation or a valid legal request, or to protect rights and safety.

We keep information for as long as the school's account is active or as needed to provide the service. We delete or anonymise the associated data within 30 days of a valid deletion request or account closure, unless retention is required by law.

Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may request to:

• Access the personal information held about you.
• Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Delete your information, or withdraw a consent you previously gave.

Students should raise these requests with their driving school (the owner of the data). Schools can contact us using the details below and we will assist.

DriveSarathi does not directly collect information from children. Driving-school students may sometimes be minors, and their information is provided by the driving school — not collected by us directly. The school is responsible for obtaining any required parent or guardian consent, and for using the information only for legitimate school purposes. DriveSarathi stores this information on the school's behalf and does not use it for any other purpose.

We use only essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated through the service.
